Show Notes
Eva called Fix It Radio about what is safe to use when cleaning a toilet bowl regarding a septic system. John advised to use a small amount of chemical cleaner, like Soft Scrub with bleach, to remove the stain. While generally avoiding chemicals is best for septic systems, occasional minimal use for cleaning purposes is acceptable. Additionally, after cleaning, John recommended adding bacteria a week or two to the septic system after using such cleaners. The frequency of pumping the septic tank was also discussed, with a recommendation of every five years for a single-person household. However, every household is different. Therefore, John suggested consulting with a professional septic tank service provider to understand the needs of the home's and local area septic systems.
